Penetrating Concrete Surface Hardener RC Gardex PROTECT

Surface reinforcement inorganic concrete surface impregnation type modifier (concentrated type)

"Permeable Concrete Surface Hardener RC Gardex PROTECT" is a surface hardener primarily composed of alkali silicate that penetrates the concrete surface, gradually reacting with calcium ions in the concrete to produce calcium silicate, thereby hardening and densifying the floor surface. Additionally, because it integrates with the concrete, unlike paints and similar products, it does not peel off, and its effects continue semi-permanently. It prevents dust and reduces maintenance efforts. As the concrete surface becomes denser and its strength increases, deterioration is suppressed, resulting in minimal dust generation and reduced cleaning efforts. The surface hardener excels in enhancing the strength and stain resistance of the concrete surface. Therefore, it is applicable in areas with heavy foot and vehicle traffic, such as logistics centers, various warehouses, stores, parking lots, factories, convention halls, and airports, as well as in maintenance shops that are prone to certain types of chemical damage. For more details, please contact us or refer to the catalog.

Logistics facilities rely on their floors: Non-peeling concrete floor finish - Seal Hard

The floor is vital for logistics facilities that operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The concrete surface hardener "Seal Hard," which is free from peeling, continues to protect the floor!

Seal Hard is a penetrating concrete surface hardening material born in the USA, suitable for concrete floors in stores, factories, and logistics centers. Seal Hard is a penetrating surface hardener that does not create a film on the surface, unlike dust-proof paints or floor coatings, which means there is nothing to peel off, and long-lasting effects can be expected from a single application. Maintenance of floors finished with Seal Hard only requires regular scrubbing or mopping. There is no need for repainting, leading to significant cost savings. Since 1994, Seal Hard has been provided by authorized contractors in Japan, and we pride ourselves on being the number one in the country for penetrating surface hardening finishes. Seal Hard offers different specifications and grades based on customer requests through several application methods. 【Standard Specification】 Achieves high dust-proof and wear-resistant effects. 【Seal Hard W】 Achieves even stronger dust-proof and wear-resistant effects. 【Seal Hard Premium】 Achieves strength and gloss through polishing. 【Seal Hard FGS】 Achieves your desired gloss through a floor polishing system. 【FGS Perma Shine】 Achieves a shiny floor like marble through a floor polishing system.

Hirosaki Brick Warehouse Museum: Penetrating Concrete Surface Hardener Seal Hard

We constructed the Hirosaki Brick Warehouse Museum using Seal Hard Premium. I will provide an explanation including actual photos.

We have installed "Seal Hard Premium" on the exhibition room floor of the Hirosaki Brick Warehouse Museum. Among the various specifications of Seal Hard, we chose the highest level, "Premium." The designer, Tsuyoshi Tane, had two key design considerations. The first was the exquisite reflection of the artwork on the black concrete floor, creating a glossy effect. During the exhibition, the lighting is dimmed, and spotlights are directed at the artwork, allowing the pieces to subtly reflect on the floor. Through discussions and repeated testing with designer Tane, we found the solution, expressing that glossiness through our 26 years of experience in polishing techniques. The second consideration was to preserve the inherent texture of the concrete. The texture of the concrete is enhanced with an elegant gloss that minimizes the appearance of sand and stone, which is a specialty of "Premium." While any concrete can achieve gloss through polishing and the application of Seal Hard, this process typically reveals the texture of sand and stone. "Premium" allows for a beautiful gloss while retaining a layer of cement, despite the additional effort required. These requirements aligned perfectly with "Seal Hard Premium," leading to its adoption. We hope you can experience the texture of "Seal Hard Premium," which maintains the character of the concrete, supports the artwork, and is easy to manage and maintain.

[Entrance Floor] Permeable Concrete Surface Reinforcement ◎ Case Study ◎ Seal Hard

The entrance floor of the building was constructed with "Seal Hard FGS." Seal Hard enhances the entrance, the "face" of the building, with a striking floor finish.

In the fall of 2020, we applied the Seal Hard FGS6 to a building in Harajuku, Tokyo, which was renovated. Seal Hard comes in many specifications, and this project used the FGS6 specification for the flooring. Every building entrance is filled with the owner's unique preferences. The entrance, which serves as the "face" of the building, may feature a sign, a lobby, or even sculptures. Seal Hard has the ability to showcase the owner's attention to detail. This time, it was a shared office for creators and an apparel shop. The concept was "New Modern," presenting a more advanced and cutting-edge theme. The client had high expectations for the flooring. From the planning stage, we created multiple samples to align the image, exploring the degree of gloss and the atmosphere of the sign reflecting on the floor. Once on-site, we reproduced the samples as closely as possible while maintaining the client's vision during the installation. The panels in the entrance reflected onto the floor, resulting in a modern finish. Utilizing the texture of concrete, Seal Hard FGS is easy to operate and manage. We hope you can experience its quality.

【Supermarket Floor】Permeable Concrete Surface Strengthening ◎ Case Study ◎ Seal Hard

The supermarket sales floor was constructed with [Seal Hard FGS]. It has a clean appearance due to its gloss, and maintenance is easy! It's the perfect floor for 365 days of operation.

In the fall of 2019, we applied 【Seal Hard FGS5】 at a supermarket that opened in Fukushima City. Seal Hard has many specifications, and this project utilized the 【FGS5】 specification. We heard from the owner of the commercial facility that they were struggling with the peeling of tiles and sheets. Traditionally, surface hardeners have been mainly applied in logistics, warehouses, and factories. However, in recent years, I have felt a growing interest in the floors created by Seal Hard, which are easy to maintain, free from peeling, and have a beautiful glossy appearance. Last year, we completed the construction of a supermarket that serves as a good model in Fukushima Prefecture. The gloss of the floor is immediately noticeable in the photos. We received questions like, "Isn't it slippery?" but it is not slippery at all. We ask the owner to clean it with a mop. As long as dust and debris are removed with a mop, the dense concrete does not become slippery. I also shopped at this supermarket after the construction, and I did not experience any slipping. The floor utilizes the texture of concrete while reducing maintenance costs. The rational and aesthetically pleasing specification is 【Seal Hard FGS】. We invite you to experience it for yourself.

[Delivery Center & Warehouse Floor] ◎ Surface Reinforcement ◎ Concrete ◎ Case Studies ◎ Seal Hard

The floor of the distribution center and warehouse was constructed using the "Seal Hard Standard Specification." This is the basic, standard specification of Seal Hard. We have compiled examples of this specification, which has been loved for 26 years.

In 2019, we constructed a new floor for a distribution center and warehouse. The client, a manufacturer of household appliances, adopted the "Seal Hard Standard Specification." The client's request was for a floor that offered "wear resistance, dustproofing, and the ability to withstand forklifts." They previously used painted floors in green at their own factory. In this logistics warehouse project, the goal was to improve efficiency. They shifted from manual stacking to a more automated system using forklifts and pallets. Seal Hard demonstrates effective solutions for this type of application. The Seal Hard Standard Specification provides dustproofing, wear resistance, prevention of tire marks, and reduced maintenance. It exhibits sufficient capabilities in these areas. When advancing mechanization and aiming for cost reduction, the specifications of the floor become a crucial factor. A floor with the strength to withstand forklifts and a flat surface that robots won't trip on is necessary. I believe the reason Seal Hard has been well-received is that it fits well with warehouses and logistics centers that have mechanized and automated due to changes in the times. There is no doubt that this trend will continue in the future. Please consider Seal Hard, the optimal solution for concrete floors.

【Hazardous Material Warehouse Floor】Surface Reinforcement Material ■ Cutter Joint Filling ■ Seal Hard

The floor of the hazardous materials warehouse was constructed with seal hard. Additionally, joint filling was applied to achieve a hazardous materials warehouse that offers "ease of use, easy maintenance, and durability"!

We applied [Seal Hard + Joint Filling] to the floor of the hazardous materials warehouse. It is not an exaggeration to say that "when it comes to warehouses, Seal Hard is the choice," as this combination is widely adopted. There is no peeling or lifting, and customers are pleased with the cost aspect as well. This is why the equation of warehouse floor = Seal Hard holds true. What made me happy was that we also applied [Joint Filling] to the floor. The cutter joints often seen in warehouse sites are very effective in inducing concrete cracks, and I have witnessed this many times. When I visit a site after handover and look at the floor, I often see corner chipping and debris in the joints. I always think, "I want to fill the joints to make the floor more user-friendly." Our company also has the perfect material for joint filling. Its name is SSP100, a micro-elastic material that has good follow-up properties for minor cracks. Moreover, it cures quickly. It becomes walkable in about an hour, and it has excellent compatibility with Seal Hard, offering the benefit of shortened construction time. The material is polyurea resin, which is the leading joint filling material in the United States. In the long term, SSP100 has the capability to recover costs. Please experience the combination of Seal Hard + SSP100.

[Renovation Floor] Floor Coating Removal ■ Seal Hard ■ Surface Strengthening Material ■ 10-Year Warranty

The existing warehouse floor was treated using the Sealhard polishing method. The old green floor has been transformed into a glossy concrete floor! We hope you can see the results.

Have you ever seen a peeling green floor? With Seal Hard, you can completely change the atmosphere with its application capabilities. This time, we had a plan to turn a warehouse into an exhibition space and office over 20 years ago. The client expressed a desire to "display robots and change the atmosphere with a clean, easy-to-maintain floor." I remember feeling that Seal Hard was the perfect material for this and passionately conveyed that sentiment. A flat floor is essential for the robots to move, so we needed to remove the green coating to expose the base. Once we exposed the base, I believe that easy-to-maintain Seal Hard is the answer. I recall having a tough impression due to the floor's damage and the layers of coating. Polishing concrete without causing damage requires considerable experience. There are countless techniques involving machinery, blades, and material distribution, and particularly the polishing after removing the coating is bound to be challenging. Although there were many difficulties, I was uplifted by the client's joyful response of "I’m surprised, it looks beautiful." I believe there are many similar concerns across Japan. Please feel free to consult with us; I am confident we can be of help.

Skate Park Seal Hard - Skate Park Specification - Long-lasting Durability

A skate park highly praised by skaters with a concrete surface finish. The smooth concrete surface is perfect for skating and lasts long even outdoors!

◆Conventional Pavement Many skate parks are made with concrete surfaces, but they have not been finished to a particular standard until now. As a result, they remain vulnerable to erosion from rainwater and wear from skating. Even with maintenance, the concrete surface deteriorates due to rainwater erosion, becoming rough within just 2 to 3 years, making it increasingly difficult to skate on and posing a risk of injuries such as scrapes from falls. ◆Towards a Water-Resistant and Highly Abrasion-Resistant Pavement In response, Willby has developed a specification suitable for skate park surfaces called "Seal Hard Skate Park Specification," combining the concrete floor finishing technology it has cultivated over many years. Seal Hard is a concrete surface hardener with numerous achievements in flooring for logistics facilities since 1994. It dramatically improves the abrasion resistance of concrete surfaces and transforms them into surfaces that can withstand wear from vehicles like forklifts. However, Seal Hard is weak against rainwater, and on its own, it is not suitable for outdoor use. Therefore, a specification for skate parks was developed that combines the removal of the weak surface layer through "grinding" and a water absorption suppressor, "AquaPel Plus," to resist rainwater.

Is it the same? The difference in permeable concrete surface hardeners.

Many permeation enhancers are available from various companies, but they are not all the same. Here are some key points for choosing them.

◆Types of Penetrating Concrete Surface Hardening Agents 1. Sodium Silicate Type This is the most common type, used for many years with a proven track record. It can be applied not only to newly poured concrete but also to older concrete with a high porosity. However, it is prone to efflorescence, so wet cleaning is necessary during the application process. After application, it takes time to crystallize, gradually developing a glossy finish. Our products: Seal Hard, Chem Hard 2. Lithium Silicate Type This type has become popular in the last decade and is suitable for concrete with low porosity, primarily used for newly constructed dense concrete. Unlike sodium silicate, it does not cause efflorescence, and the application is relatively easy. The crystallization speed is also faster than that of sodium silicate. The raw materials are expensive, making lithium silicate products more costly than sodium silicate products. Our product: Lion Hard ◆Not all penetrating hardeners are the same Even if the type is the same, there are variations in performance, with some products being more effective and long-lasting while others lose their effectiveness in a short period. ◆Simply applying it is not enough for sufficient effectiveness The key point is whether the application process includes "wet cleaning."

"20-Year-Old Skate Park Surface Renovation" Sanuki City Nagao Skate Park

A weathered concrete park that has been neglected for 20 years has been revived into a skate park that is even smoother than newly built parks.

The "Nagao Skate Park" in Sanuki City, Kagawa Prefecture, was established 20 years ago. Built at a significant size of approximately 900m2, it became a well-known park for skaters in western Japan long before skateboarding became a trend. However, it has recently gained notoriety for its rough surface, with some people even referring to it as a "grater" due to the coarse concrete surface. Sanuki City allocated a budget and commissioned Tsumura Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Willby Co., Ltd., which provide unique renovation methods. Using a large American grinding machine, the rough concrete surface was shaved down, and the sunken areas were filled with a special resin made in the USA that can be used outdoors, creating a smooth surface. Additionally, a penetrating surface hardener called "Seal Hard" and a water absorption inhibitor named "Aqua Pel Plus" were applied to enhance wear resistance and rainwater resistance. Finally, a test run on a skateboard was conducted to check for proper grip. The surface not only returned to a smooth finish but was also completed with long-lasting wear and rain resistance! A video showing the condition after the renovation has been uploaded to YouTube. With the permission of the sk8 on channel, we will introduce it in the related video below.

"No matter how many times it's repaired, it quickly falls apart." Tōganezawa Sports Square Skate Park

The park, which used to become worn out quickly even after being repaired every 2 to 3 years, has transformed into a smooth surface and is receiving great acclaim!

The "Higashi Kanazawa Sports Plaza Skate Park" located in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, was installed in a retention basin. Although it should have undergone surface repairs every 2 to 3 years, the deterioration of the surface was severe, and falling would inevitably lead to bleeding. Being in a retention basin, it was also prone to accumulating rainwater, creating an environment that is particularly damaging to concrete. With the cooperation of the Kanazawa City Skateboard Association, the city allocated a budget for surface renovation. Using a large American grinding machine, we ground down the rough concrete surface, filled in the depressions with a special resin made in the USA that can be used outdoors, and created a smooth surface. Additionally, we improved wear resistance and rainwater resistance by applying a penetrating surface hardener called "Seal Hard" and a water absorption suppressor called "Aqua Pel Plus." Finally, we tested the surface with a skateboard to ensure it had the appropriate grip. Not only did it return to a smooth surface, but it was also finished to be a long-lasting surface with wear and rainwater resistance! Local skaters expressed their delight, saying, "I've been skateboarding for 15 years, but this is the first time I've experienced such a surface." Even two years after the construction, the smooth surface continues to be maintained.

Based on numerous achievements, we have created the "Skate Park Surface Specification Standard Diagram"!

What is the design of a skate park...? If you have such concerns, please make use of this.

Many skate parks are made with concrete surfaces, but they have not been finished in any particular way until now. As a result, they remain vulnerable to erosion from rainwater and wear from skating. Even with proper maintenance, the concrete surface deteriorates and becomes rough due to rainwater erosion in just 2 to 3 years, gradually making it difficult to skate and transforming it into a dangerous surface that is prone to injuries such as scrapes from falls. We have consolidated the know-how from our previous sports facility projects and concrete flooring projects to create the optimal "Skate Surface Specification Standard Diagram" for skate parks. Please make use of it in your future skate park designs! *The surface specification document can be found by scrolling down to the "CAD List." If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us. We are confident that we can be of assistance.
